The Cat Who Saved the Lonely Girl

"I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul." - Jean Cocteau
Ernest Hemingway is the name of this lovely, spunky, bursting with personality, little creature. I never use to consider myself a cat person. Don't get me wrong, I am an animal lover but I always preferred dogs. My newly wed husband was working night shift leaving me alone at nights. I was raised always having pets in my home, so not having one drove me insane, as well as made me lonely.
On a cold day in Febuary, I persuaded my husband to go to Petsmart and look at the cats. At the time, I had no intention on getting one, but little did I know Ernest Hemingway would make his way into my loving arms. The windows were full of cats desperate for a forever home. As I made my way down the isle, a sweet yet ferocious face looked back at me. My heart instantly fell in love. I tugged on my husbands sleeve like a little kid. " oh, look at him! Isn't he beautiful? Look at his paws!! They are huge." I exclaimed, " Can we please go in the back and play with him?!" My sweet husband agreed and this cat who had caught my attention was placed in my arms. He purred loudly and looked up at me with his big green eyes. Their was no escape, I had fallen in love with this feline. It didn't take much begging and my husband agreed, though he may not have admitted it, I knew deep down my husband had taken a fancy to this new family member.
He meowed the whole ride home, as I pondered names. It didn't take long before I knew his name. "You will be called, Ernest Hemingway." Authors and cats have always had a connection, so I knew it to be the perfect name. We brought him home and he adjusted remarkably, he's so laid back it takes a lot to upset him.

As you can see, he is bursting with personality. He never ceases to make me laugh. My favorite things are sitting on the couch with a good book, cup of hot tea, and Ernest sitting upon my lap. Though I never thought I would admit it, I have turned into a, "Cat Person, " and it is all because of my furry little companion and that is the beginning of Ernest Hemingway.

The beginning

Ernest Hemingway once said, " My aim is to put down on paper what I see and what I feel in the best and simplest way."  That is what I am going to do, but instead of paper... I am typing. My reason for having this blog to write about this unextrodinary life I am living, to type out this rollercoaster we call life. By no means am I a writer, or a good one at that, but like everyone else I am writing about my everyday life.  Therefore, do not judge my punctuation mistakes or lack of a comma. I did not major in English grammar.  My soul-purpose is to just write and tell those who are reading about the adventures this life takes me on.
